And the hits just keep on coming (another text to blog moment).
May the Lord watch between me and thee, while we’re absent, one from another. Amen. Some of you on this thread will recognize this as our ending for our sorority meetings. It has a sweet and endearing spirit about it, wouldn’t you say? Well, how ignorant were we back then. This prayer is a thief’s prayer because it was said between Jacob, who cheated his brother out of his birth right, and Laban, who cheated Jacob out of marrying Rachel. I giggle sometimes when people forward me passages to read. I read very well, my comprehension and application of what I read (in the bible) is where my difficulty lies. I’m not new to the bible, but let’s face it, a Judy Bloom read it ain’t. We need a little help and if you read something and have an opinion about what you think it means, why not share that meaning? You may share something someone else may not have thought of and vice versa. We all can read but sometimes it is our comprehension and application that gives us a fit. Judges say ignorance of the law is no excuse. Ignorance is just a lack of knowledge. I say, ignorance of the bible is no excuse. Knowing the bible is free, knowing the law will cost you, not knowing either can cost you your life.
